Dr. Whitworth was selected as one of the Best Physicians in Nashville and is a board certified fertility specialist.Dr. Whitworth is a native Tennessean.

She attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, and she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Louisville.

At the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, she completed her sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility prior to moving to Nashville in 1991 to join Dr. Hill at the Nashville Fertility Center.

Along with her three associates, Dr. Whitworth was recently selected by her physician peers as one of the best physicians in Nashville.

 

Dr Whitworth  is Board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

While in medical school, Dr. Whitworth was invited to join the Alpha Omega medical honor society. During her residency in Louisville, she received the “Golden Hands” award for the best technical surgeon in the residency program. In Houston she spent one year in a special Reproductive Surgery Fellowship at Woman’s Hospital. This time was devoted to achieving expertise in operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, tubal reanastomosis and open surgeries for endometriosis, leiomyomata and pelvic adhesions.

During her fellowship at Baylor, Dr. Whitworth developed proficiency in assisted reproductive techniques including in vitro fertilization (IVF), GIFT and ZIFT procedures and conducted laboratory research in endometriosis. During three years of fellowship in Houston, Dr. Whitworth taught many courses to physicians on the use of the CO2, YAG and Argon beam lasers that are used in laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis and pelvic adhesions.

In her experience as co-director of the Nashville Fertility center IVF programs, Dr. Whitworth believes she has discovered the most rewarding aspect of her specialty, “Each couple, each individual, is unique. The exciting challenge in our work is being able to apply these advanced technologies in ways that recognize the particular needs of each patient.”
